The Boyhood of Abraham Lincoln (clip)

Beginning life in a log cabin in Kentucky, Abraham Lincoln has no idea he will end up in the White House. At 9, he takes a dangerous journey up the Ohio River to settle in Indiana with his family. Lincoln, encouraged to educate himself, does so by reading. As a ferryman, an experience with a lawsuit gets him interested in the law. A trip down the Mississippi River to New Orleans brings him into contact with a slave auction and helps shape his feelings against slavery. Abe Lincoln, feeling homely, awkward and unsure of his future, is a modest but ambitious youth, well-liked for his good-humored company but with no idea of how far his ambition will take him.
